Peace Warrior tells the exclusive, intimate story of Trevor's courageous struggle to recover from the devastating injury. Initially, doctors predicted he would never emerge from his coma, would never speak and should just be placed in a longterm care facility. But Trevor's fiancée Debbie categorically refused to accept the bleak prognosis, and the documentary is testament to the amazing combination of Trevor's determination and Debbie's faith in him. For more than a year, Trevor and Debbie, their family and friends allowed cameras to document Trevor's journey through an intensive brain injury rehabilitation program in Alberta. Desperately Seeking Doctors

As Canadians, we loved to brag about our efficient and universal health care system that was the envy of the world. But the system is broken, and nearly 5 million Canadians are now without a family doctor. When we're sick, we either clog up the country's Emergency Rooms or go to walk-in clinics that don't know our medical histories and can offer little continuity of care. The situation is already critical, and is about to get much worse - with a huge bulge of baby boom doctors about to retire, and younger doctors disinclined to sacrifice personal lives to their careers. How did we get here? And how do we get back to the level of primary health care that we believe is our right as Canadian citizens? "Desperately Seeking Doctors" sets out on a cross-country journey, talking to ordinary Canadians, doctors, and health care experts to investigate the present crisis, its causes and possible solutions.

Directed by Sharon Bartlett and Maria LeRose, written by Helen Slinger, and produced by Sharon Bartlett, Maria LeRose and Sue Ridout for CBC's Doc Zone.

Embracing Bob's Killer

It's the oddest thing, watching them talking and laughing together, if you know that Katy Hutchison was widowed eight years ago, and Ryan Aldridge is the man who killed her husband. Embracing Bob's Killer is an intimate documentary exploration of the relationship between a beautiful and vivacious widow and the young man who killed her beloved husband Bob. It's also a hard look at the nature of forgiveness, and at our human need to judge even this most "divine" of acts. If someone killed your husband, the father of your children – would you forgive? What could possibly compel a widow to embrace her husband's killer?

Written and directed by Helen Slinger, produced by Sue Ridout for CBC's Doc Zone.
